What CBSE Inspectors Look For
The inspection committee typically has 3-5 members who visit for 1-2 days. They check:
Physical verification: Actual land area, building plan, labs, library — not just papers
Student interaction: Random class visits, student interviews on teaching quality
There is no single official "passing score." However, schools need to meet all mandatory requirements (land, qualified staff, labs, safety). Critical non-compliances in any mandatory area can lead to affiliation denial regardless of overall score.
How long does CBSE affiliation process take?
From application to final decision, the process typically takes 3-6 months. The online application is through CBSE OASIS portal. Schools should start preparing at least 1 year before applying.
Can CBSE withdraw affiliation after granting it?
Yes. CBSE conducts surprise inspections and can issue show-cause notices, place schools on probation, or withdraw affiliation if standards drop. Common reasons include unqualified teachers, fee violations, and safety lapses.
