Data correction in UDISE+ depends on when you need to make changes. The process differs significantly before and after the data lock date:

✏️ Correction Before Data Lock Date

When the portal is open for data entry, you can directly edit most fields:

Login to UDISE+ Portal

Access udiseplus.gov.in and login with your school's credentials.

Navigate to the Relevant Module

Go to Student Module, Teacher Module, or Infrastructure section based on what you need to correct.

Search for the Record

Use the search function to find the specific student/teacher record. You can search by name, Aadhaar, or admission number.

Click Edit/Modify Button

Look for the pencil icon (✏️) or "Edit" button next to the record. Click to enter edit mode.

Make Corrections

Update the incorrect fields. Some fields may be locked (greyed out) - these require admin approval to change.

Save & Verify

Click "Update" or "Save Changes". Verify the correction was applied by viewing the record again.

🔒 Correction After Data Lock Date

After the data lock date, direct editing is disabled. You must submit a formal correction request:

Prepare Documentation

  • Application letter on school letterhead
  • Supporting documents (Aadhaar, Birth Certificate, etc.)
  • Screenshot of current incorrect data
  • Correct data with proof

Submit to Block Office

Submit the complete request to your Block Education Officer (BEO). They will verify and forward to District.

District Verification

District office verifies the request and documents. For major corrections, it may go to State level.

Admin Makes Changes

Authorized admin logs into portal with elevated access to make the correction in locked fields.

Confirmation

You'll receive confirmation once correction is made. Verify by logging into your portal.

  • Post-lock corrections take 5-15 working days to process
  • Keep copies of all submitted documents
  • Follow up with tracking number if provided
  • Some corrections may not be possible after final freeze

Wrong Spelling of Name

Student/Teacher name has spelling mistakes

Solution:

Edit directly if before lock date. After lock, submit Aadhaar copy showing correct name to Block office.

Wrong Date of Birth

DOB doesn't match birth certificate

Solution:

Submit birth certificate copy along with correction request. Affects age-class validation.

Wrong Aadhaar Linked

Aadhaar number belongs to someone else

Solution:

Complex case. Requires District intervention to de-link wrong Aadhaar and link correct one. Submit both Aadhaar copies.

Student in Wrong Class

Class assignment needs to be changed

Solution:

Use promotion/section change feature. Available even after lock date through Class/Section Change menu.

How long does data correction take after lock date?

Post-lock corrections typically take 5-15 working days depending on the complexity. Simple corrections like name spellings are faster. Aadhaar-related changes may take longer as they require higher-level approval.

Can I correct data during the review period?

During the review period (after initial submission but before final lock), some corrections may still be allowed. Check with your Block office as policies vary by state.

What if Block office rejects my correction request?

You can escalate to District Education Office with additional documentation. If the rejection seems unfair, you can also contact the State IT nodal officer.

Is there a fee for data correction?

No, UDISE+ data correction is free. There is no official charge for making corrections. Beware of anyone asking for payment.

Can transferred student data be corrected?

Data for students who have been transferred can only be corrected at the new school. The previous school loses edit access once transfer is complete.
