🔍 Quick Checks:

Wait 2-3 minutes

During peak hours, SMS delivery can be delayed. Don't spam the resend button.

Check network signal

Ensure your mobile has proper network coverage. Try moving to a better signal area.

Check SMS storage

If inbox is full, new SMS may not arrive. Delete old messages.

Check spam/blocked messages

Some phones filter government SMS. Check spam folder or blocked senders list.

Restart your phone

A quick restart can resolve temporary network glitches.

📵 Check DND (Do Not Disturb) Status

DND blocks promotional and transactional SMS including OTPs. Disable DND or add UDISE sender to whitelist.

💡 Alternative: Allow only transactional SMS by sending "START 0" to 1909. This keeps promotions blocked but allows OTPs.

OTP Expired

Error: "OTP has expired. Please request new OTP"

OTP Validity: 10 minutes

OTP automatically expires 10 minutes after generation. You cannot extend validity.

✅ Solution:

  1. Click "Resend OTP" button (wait for timer to complete)
  2. New OTP will be sent to registered mobile
  3. Enter new OTP immediately (don't wait)
  4. Complete verification within 10 minutes
⚠️ Tip: Keep your mobile nearby before clicking "Send OTP". Have the form ready to submit quickly after entering OTP.

Invalid OTP Error

Error: "Invalid OTP. Please enter correct OTP"

Common Causes:

  • Typing error: Wrong digit entered
  • Old OTP: Using previous OTP after requesting new one
  • Copy-paste issue: Extra spaces copied with OTP
  • Expired OTP: OTP expired but different error shown

  1. Request fresh OTP (don't use old one)
  2. Type OTP manually (avoid copy-paste)
  3. Double-check all 6 digits before submitting
  4. Submit quickly before expiry

Wrong Mobile Number Registered

OTP going to different number or old number

If OTP is being sent to a wrong/old mobile number, you need to get it updated through proper channel.

Prepare Application

Write application on school letterhead requesting mobile number change with reason.

Attach Documents

Principal's ID proof, authorization letter, new mobile ownership proof.

Submit to Block/District Office

Submit to BEO/DEO office. They will verify and forward for update.

Verification & Update

Admin will update mobile number after verification. Usually takes 3-5 working days.

Can I use email OTP instead of mobile OTP?

Currently, UDISE+ primarily uses mobile OTP for verification. Email OTP may be available as secondary option in some cases. Check your state's implementation.

Why do I need OTP every time I login?

OTP-based two-factor authentication is mandatory for data security. It prevents unauthorized access to school data even if password is compromised.

OTP works on one device but not another?

OTP is sent to mobile number, not device. If you're not receiving on one device, check if SMS app is different or if there are blocking apps installed.

Can someone else receive OTP on my behalf?

OTP goes to registered mobile number only. If principal is unavailable, ensure authorized person has access to registered mobile. Don't share OTP over phone for security.
